Symptoms of an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)
There are many symptoms of an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). Below are some of them.
Tiredness, Muscle aches, and weakness:
Some people even after taking a healthy diet and exercise feel tired without realizing that they may be having an underactive thyroid.
Being sensitive to cold
Have you experience cold water on the beach even though it may be 30 degrees hot outside, well you just have discovered one symptom of underactive thyroid.
This is most confusing as you may be drinking enough water, sleeping, daily meditating, walking and still find you are constipated, well very likely you have an underactive thyroid
Do you often feel down and stressed for no reason? Check if hypothyroidism is the reason.
Slow movements and thoughts
Somehow you may have taken shower and exercise to feel fresh but somehow still can’t think clearly and nothing comes to your mind? well again think perhaps you may have an underactive thyroid.
Brittle hair and nails
Despite health diet, you may find you have some black lines on your nails or blue nails.
Loss of (sex drive)
Pain, numbness and a tingling sensation in the hand and fingers (carpal tunnel syndrome). This could be one symptom but not always present in all cases.
With women they many find irregular periods or heavy periods
Elderly people with an underactive thyroid may develop memory problems and depression.
