Frequently Asked Questions What is New Scientific Yoga ? The thought of yoga in the mind give impression of some impossible postures but in scientific yoga it is not about these acrobatic postures. It consists of simplest yogasana to challenging strength building postures step by step which are being practiced considering body strength and participants comfort level. In Scientific Yoga the objective is to harness the right side of the brain as well and bring emotional stability. It consists of simplest yoga pose for lubricating body joints which every body can do. It consist of dynamic body movement and challenging postures step by step for strength building and toning the whole body. It includes stretching for developing flexibility. The new Scientific Yoga is for everyone. Apart from Strength building postures, it also includes practicing scientific technique of breathing, meditation and relaxation.Regular practice helps in reducing stress, developing physical fitness and looking young. The special feature of scientific yoga is its scientific sleep, which was practiced by many of the great leaders of the world. We have already conducted more than 500 workshops / sessions on New Scientific Yoga and Stress management in India and London. What if I am totally new to Yoga? We begin teaching yoga step by step from the beginning. First explaining how the Yoga exercise will be beneficial, precautions and then selecting exercise for the participants as per their comfort level. Are your yoga courses in London Non- Residential ? Yes, as of now we are running all our Yoga classes and workshops as non-residential in London. Do you conduct chanting session before or during meditation?How can I be sure I am capable of doing the meditation? We do not have chanting session but silent meditation in London, where we concentrate on our breath. It combine the practice of three limbs out of eight limbs of yoga. For a person in reasonable health who is genuinely interested and willing to make sincere effort, meditation (including "noble silence") is not difficult. If you are able to follow the instructions patiently and diligently, you can be sure of tangible results. Do you have any eating restrictions (for example, eating non -vegetarian food during your yoga course)? We do not have any eating restriction. You can take any food which you find suitable for you. However, yogic food is pure vegetarian. I am suffering from Thyroid problem, Can I join yoga classes? Will you be correcting it also in your course? First we suggest you take your Doctor advice whether you can do exercises or not. If the doctor gives his/her consent you are most welcome. However, we want to clear that we are not Yoga Therapists i.e. we do not treat any diseases please. I am Christian or Jewish or Buddhist or Muslim or Atheist etc, Can I practice Yoga and meditation ? Yes, certainly. Yoga has nothing to do with any religion. Yoga is universal and scientific in its approach for making your body and mind stronger and peaceful. In which order should I practice Asanas, Pranayama & Meditation? The correct order as per traditional Indian way is First Asana, then Pranayama and then Meditation. Can I do Yoga even if my body is very stiff? Certainly ,Yoga is not just for those who are flexible. If your body is very stiff you can start with gentle yogsasana and taking care not to create any injuries. I am new yoga practitioner please tell me ,where do you put the weight in the headstand? Most of the weight should be taken by elbows and with the shoulders pushing up and away from the ears. In this fashion, the neck will receive very little pressure. Practice under the guidance of a qualified teacher is must. What's the best way to get started, especially if I'm out of shape? Find a teacher and learn from the basic step by step because right practice is more important . One-to-one interaction with a teacher is invaluable experience. Later on books and videos will also be beneficial. Is Yoga aerobic exercise? No. Traditional Indian yoga a big No ,however few of the modern branded yoga style are quite similar to aerobic exercise like Ashtanga and Viniyasa. Should women do Yoga during menses? It is suggested that they should avoid inverted poses, abdominal strengtheners, extended holding of any pose, or energizing breaths (kapalabhati). . Can Yoga control high blood pressure? Some yogasana practice do help patients in control their high blood pressure. However not all yoga postures are good if you are suffering from high blood pressure. Kindly consult your certified teacher first before starting the yoga practice. What are Chakras? Chakras are the energy centres in the astral body and are located at different places along the passage of the major Nadis. What is Pranayama? Pranayama is the practice of controlling the vital life force, usually through the control of breath (the fourth of the eight limbs of Yoga). Why are we supposed to refrain from eating around three hours before class? In yoga practice we twist from side to side, turn upside down, and bend forward and backward. If we have not fully digested our last meal, we will not feel comfortable. It is suggested that we should not take any food 3 hours before class however after 20 minutes of class we can certainly eat the food. How many times per week should I practice yoga? Technically one should do it everyday as part of our daily routine however even if you only practice for 2 times a week, you will experience the benefits of the practice. If you can do more than that, you will certainly experience more benefits. If you can only do 20 minutes per session, that's fine too. But do it regularly. What is Scientific Sleep? Scientific sleep is a systematic method of entering into physical, mental and emotional relaxation. One hour of Scientific sleep session is equivalent to hours of ordinary sleep says Subodh. This concept of Scientific sleep was used by many of the great leaders of the world like Winston Churchill, Mahatma Gandhi and Napoleon Bonaparte. In scientific sleep one can learn to relax consciously. In Scientific sleep you sleep but you are aware. It is a state of mind between wakefulness and dream. The practice of Scientific sleep also helps in developing your intuitions. The technique of Scientific sleep primarily offers deeper relaxation however its ultimate purpose is to take you into deeper state, where you can unite with your innerself.
