Disabled yoga classes threatened with closure has been given a temporary reprieve with extra funding.
The Yoga Mobility group in Cardiff has been informed that funding had been secured for one of two classes for physically disabled people until July.
Cash has also been found for a class for people with learning disabilities. The Yoga Mobility group at Rookwood Hospital in Cardiff has held three classes a week for the past 30 years.
Two catered for those with physical disabilities and one for those with learning disabilities.
But as a result of funding cuts, one of the physical disabilities classes was forced to stop and the other was threatened with closure in December. A protest was held outside council offices which resulted in a meeting being held between members of Yoga Mobility and council officials.
The outcome was that funding was found to secure the future of the learning disabilities yoga classes until July 2005 from the Workers Educational Association (WEA). And the class which was due to close in December will continue running until July
