London 28th July: Whenever any media statement does not goes in favour of famous Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev Ji, he quickly strike back at media saying that media is misinterpreting him (as he claimed happened in reference to Shri Mahatma Gandhi Ji), however he himself found to be giving misleading statement or remain silent on misleading news which serve his interest.
Recently Swami Ramdev Ji organised yoga camps in US ( July 2007) and UK (July 2007) and it is a matter of pride for me being an Indian that Indian yoga teachers are teaching about health and well being to the whole world. According to news published on Rediff News on 17th July with title 'Yoga has nothing to do with religion. It is not Hinduism' Raj kumar says “I lost 6 kg after attending two sessions of yoga with Baba Ramdev in New Jersey last week”.
Another news published on NEWSPOST India 1st July 2007 title “Ramdev's Yoga Brand Launched In America” says people lose weight up to 5 pound of weight just after one session and Swami Ji maintains that effect of yoga are demonstrable and immediate.
Dear Swami Ji, could you please explain how one can lose 6 kg body fat in 2 sessions or 5 pounds after one session of your yoga???
Dear Swami ji, after working in the field of Yoga and Weight loss for many years with due respect I personally challenge your knowledge on weight loss to the extent that I would abandon my whole profession of Yoga practice forever and would become your blind follower if you test this on me and I would be happy to volunteer myself for your one yoga session.
I would like to explain in simple language, to all readers that why people cannot lose 5 pound weight by attending 1 yoga session of respected Swami Ramdev ji. “We lose weight when we burn more calories than we eat. One pound of body fat equal to approximately 3500 calories. So if you have a calorie deficit of 3500 calories you would lose approximately one pound. Now for loosing 5 pound weight (as maintains by respected Swami Ji in one yoga session) means that you need deficit of approximately 5 x 3500 = 17500 calories.
A yoga session normally can lose maximum up to 250 calories in one session. How can somebody lose 17500 calories in one session of Swami Ramdev ji???”
Just to explain the further : If you eat higher quantity of salt in your food, then there is tendency of body to retain water in our body and any little weight loss if at all experience in your yoga session, it is purely water loss and not the fat loss but Swami ji never explained this to people.
Another reason body weight also fluctuates over the period of day. Your weight in the morning when you wake up would be different than that after few hours. Weight can reduce naturally and not because of yoga session and you can check it for yourself.
It is impossible that anybody can lose 5 pound body fat just after one yoga session. Dear Swami Ji, you may please stop making misleading statement about weight loss in your yoga session or remain silent on misleading news just to attract more western people for your yoga camp (because Swami Ji you knew it that women in west are crazy about losing weight and it is big business here ).
However Swami Ji nothing wrong in doing business and making money but not in hypocritical way by using people emotion under the name of spirituality and wearing orange cloths. It did not suits to the person of your calibre unless you want to work as dodge person as your own guru says about you in the news published on webindia 123.com dated 6th January 2006 under the heading “Guru Ramdev's yoga teacher condemns his medicines” that you are commercialising yoga under spiritual umbrella.
No doubt regular practice of yoga along with healthy food helps in balancing the body weight over a period of time and it does not matter Swami Ramdev teaches or not but never in one yoga session 5 pound weight loss and it is matter of shame that respected Swami Ramdev Ji needs to use misleading news to attract western audience in his yoga camp. ### Issued in public interest by Subodh Gupta Yoga Trainer based in London
Yoga Guru Ramdev Camp in UK July 2007 At the end of the month Mr Ramdev will host a six-day yoga camp at Alexandra Palace, instructing up to 4,000 people at a time. Passes for the Alexandra Palace yoga camp range from £51 - officially a donation towards a future hospital project - to £251 for a place at the front and a chance to meet the guru.
Few question for the readers for introspection:
With no offence to anybody feeling here are few quick though for readers and for Great Swami ji Mr Ramdev
(a) Why the great Swami Ramdev is very happy for helping rich nation rather than African nation and developing countries where yoga is really required because people are poor and cannot afford expensive medicine.
(b) Why do Swami JI wants to help only rich people only.(entry ticket £250 pound only and even more)
(c) Why do Swami ji has to ask suggested donation as £250, I understand donation is what people has to give from their heart and as per their capacity like in Vipassana meditation camps and not suggested otherwise it is nice way to evade taxes.
(d) I understand Swami ji want money for building hospital for poor people in India but then Why poor people in India are charged for attending camps.
(e) Why there are special place in camps for rich and influencial people ???? there is nothing wrong, if you say clearly that we are in spiritual business but it can be done best under orange cloths and using people feeling.
Dear Swami Ji are you listening……………………………………………………………………………………………
Yoga increases GABA levels in brain
A new pilot study carried out at Boston University School of Medicine and MacLean Hospital, at the Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School, show that yoga causes a rise in gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain.
Low GABA levels are thought to contribute to the two commonest psychiatric illnesses prevalent in the world, depression and anxiety. Treatment of these conditions is carried out by drugs which raise GABA levels.
In this study, a group of eight subjects who performed Yoga for an hour were scanned, and compared to a group of eleven who just did reading, but no yoga. A 27% increase in brain GABA levels in the yoga group was noticed immediately afterwards, compared to none in the ‘reading’ group. Although the study does not indicate whether the increase in brain GABA concentrations are sufficient enough to be used for the treatment of clinical anxiety and depression, it does introduce the possibility of Yoga to be used in the treatment of a variety of illnesses, where GABA levels are depressed.
However, the reason behind reduction in brain GABA levels in patients with psychiatric illnesses is yet unknown in most cases, and whether yoga raises GABA levels in depressed patients as much as it does in healthy volunteers remains to be seen.
Yoga might reduce eyestrain
According to new research, yoga may help to reduce eyestrain for people who work at computers . A recent study showed that computer workers who practiced yoga for 60 days reported improved visual comfort and reduced "dry eye.'' In the new study, researchers at the Swami Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation in Bangalore, India, used employees of a local software development company to determine whether yoga practices could assist professional computer users. Members of the yoga group practiced yoga for one hour per day, five days per week. The hour included 10 minutes of "visual cleansing exercises,'' which consisted of shifting the eyes in eight directions.

A CONTROVERSIAL Indian guru is to visit Scotland for the first time to teach yoga to thousands of people at a mass workshop, to be broadcast around the world.

Every year, about 11 million Americans complain to doctors about knee pain. Roughly 21 million American people have osteoarthritis of the knee (a degenerative disease in which the cartilage gradually decays and fails to provide the shock absorbing padding that cushions the bones). Orthopedic surgeons performed more than 1.2 million such surgeries in 1996 alone.
Many older people suffer from this painful arthritic condition, however this knee pain is not only restricted to older people but healthy young people are also getting effected by it, for example dancers, athlete for various reason...
.....Yoga posture like staff pose(Dandasana),Half downward facing dog pose (Ardha Adho Mukha Svanasana),Seat of power pose (Utkatasana Pose), simple balancing pose, Half frog pose (Ardha Bhekasana) etc can be very helpful for rejuvenating knee joints.
Practiced with care, yoga posture can contribute to the long-term health of your knees by strengthening your quadriceps, opening your stiff hips, and teaching your body improved alignment and movement patterns that transfer into your everyday activities.
