How can I manage stress in my life?
|
While some stress is normal and even necessary, in fact healthy for increasing work related productivity however too much of it over a period of time can affect your health.
The first step you can take is to identify the causes of stress in your life. Understanding and accepting the fact is the next step and then use stress management skills to overcome them.
Same problem in life can have different level of stress for two different people depending upon how they perceive and handle the situation. Some techniques for relieving stress include:
Exercise. Regular physical activity is one of the most effective stress management techniques. You can do yoga related exercises, swimming etc.
Writing. Research shows that expressing yourself in writing can be a very effective way to reduce your stress level.
Doing something you enjoy. A hobby or other healthy leisure activity that is meaningful to you can help you relax.
Relaxation. This includes breathing exercises, muscle relaxation exercises, massage etc.
Mindfulness activities. These include learning how to relax your body through self-hypnosis, meditation, listening to relaxing music etc.
Time management techniques. Scheduling and prioritising your commitments can make you more productive and efficient and can take lots of stress out of your mind.
Finally, I recommend this 3 step process to reduce stress permanently from your life.
Identifying the main cause
Accept the situation. Make a list of points which under your control.
Finally take action. Stop focusing on thoughts that cause stress and start working on those points which are under your control right now!!!
