The Art of Living celebrates its 25th anniversary in Bangalore from February 17 to 19, 2006. As part of the special
event, some programmes have been organised in Chennai including a music programme on January 20 and a
padayatra on January 22.

Celebration and serenity, music and meditation will mark the silver jubilee celebrations at the Jakkur Airfield in Bangalore
on February 17, 18 and 19. The event will see the gathering of policy-makers, religious and industry leaders and the Art
of Living's ever-growing family.



Meditation school wants to buy golf course

Maharishi transcendental Meditation school wants to buy the Rackham Golf Course for $6.25 million with plans to keep it
intact but turn it into an organic course, in addition to offering educational programs on golf and agriculture.

It's one of three offers that Detroit has received for the 120-acre course in Huntington Woods since it opened bids this
summer for the land.


The offer was submitted by the Massachusetts-based Maharishi Vedic Education Corp., a transcendental mediation
school, and the Global Country of World Peace, a non-profit group that advocates world peace and is based in Iowa.

The golf course was given to the city by the Rackham family in the 1920s under the stipulation that it remain a golf
course or revert to the heirs. Lawyers for some Rackham heirs indicated they have reached a deal with Premium Golf to
waive the deed restriction.


FIRST VIPASSANA MEDITATION CENTRE IN KERALA

Kerala Vipassana Samiti has selected a five-acre piece of land in Cherianad Village, Chengannur
Taluka, Alleppey district for the first Vipassana centre in Kerala. It is eight kms from Chengannur
Railway station and well connected by good roads. It is about four hours drive from Trivandrum and
Kochi airports. The cost of land is Rs. 32 lacs (3.2 million).
Kerala Vipassana Samiti is registered as a charitable trust and has been conducting courses since
1991. So far, they have conducted 65 Vipassana courses. It plans to conduct residential courses as soon
as the land is acquired.
